Gammelborg is Nyborg's predecessor. It is believed that Gammelborg was located near Vindinge and the castle and town has been dated to the early Germanic Iron Age (5th century).

After a wonderful and fresh walk through Kajbjerg Forest, you reach a couple of kilometers of perfect sea trout waters. Sandbars with deep "bathtubs" in between are intersected by small, treacherous mussel reefs.
With its 25 meters and 7 floors with mill lofts, “Dyrehave Mølle" (Mill) is one of Denmark’s highest windmills. It was built in 1858 and consists of around 1 million bricks.
Sulkendrup Mill is located in a deep valley amongst trees. The mill is mentioned for the first time in 1425, and it has been in operation until our millennium. It has been active for approx. 600 years.
At DI´s konferencecenter - Gl. Vindinge, they have meeting rooms from 2 to 120 people and 34 rooms with space for relaxation and contemplation in scenic surroundings.

The tour begins at Slotsmøllen in Nyborg. Located in the heart of the royal city of Nyborg, the mill was built in the mid-16th century by King Christian III.
The Kogsbølle Trail offers an exciting hike through the diverse nature of Eastern Funen. Follow the gorge along Kogsbølle Stream and experience the beautiful heath that has been used for grazing for centuries.
The Bøllevænget-trail is a fun track with lots of variety and a good flow. It is an easy track with some altitude. The track is located south of Nyborg.
The Black Clover Path takes you around the scenic landscape in and around Nyborg, which offers coastline, villages and beautiful scenery. The route is ideal for a bike ride or a long walk.
1. stop: The Black Clover Path - Holckenhavn Fjord
The valley of Holckenhavn Fjord and Ørbæk river was created during the Ice Age. A large glacier filled the entire Great Belt and the nearest land areas creating meltwater rivers, which ran under the ice and were so powerful that they formed valleys in the ground.
The spring of Saint Mads has been active since the Ice Age and has been perceived as a holy spring as far back as the Viking Age - and perhaps even further back.
5. stop: The Black Clover Path - The Battleground Trail
Behind Nyborg Castle, Ladegårds river flows into what was once a large castle lake, which the 17th-century fortress now cuts through. The path along the stream from inside the castle follows the old medieval path systems out to what was probably the castle barn.
Vindinge Church is Funen's largest parish church and allegedly the third-largest church in the country. The core of the current church is a Gothic church built in the 14th century to replace an older Romanesque church.
The railway was established as a private railway owned by Svendborg-Nyborg Jernbaneselskab, but unlike other private railways this railway had large local stations in Nyborg and Svendborg.
The evening sun goes down and the birds land on the mirror-like Holckenhavn Fjord. That is often just how it is. Enjoy the countryside here along paths following a disused railway, through bogs and salt marshes, past castle mounds and sacred springs.
5. stop: The Red Clover Path - Nature and Movement
If you walk up the hill at this stop you will be able to experience a lovely view of the surrounding nature bordering the old railway and the Holckenhavn Fjord.
The mills wheels turn merrily at Lille Mølle – one of Denmark’s best-preserved watermills, and Sunday coffee and cake are served at Sulkendrup Mølle overlooking the lake, while the sun shines down from a cloud-free sky. Hop on your bike and enjoy these two scenic gems.
