Kogsbølle Trail (4 km)

The Kogsbølle Trail offers an exciting hike through the diverse nature of Eastern Funen. Follow the gorge along Kogsbølle Stream and experience the beautiful heath that has been used for grazing for centuries.

Nature

The trail follows the gorge along Kogsbølle Brook, a tributary of Ørbæk River, which flows into Holckenhavn Fjord. The terrain is characteristic of eastern Funen, consisting of extensive moraine plains intersected by tunnel valleys and gorges formed by glacial meltwater during the Ice Age. The natural habitat in this area is called a heath. Heaths are typically found in hilly terrain where farmers could not cultivate their fields and instead used the areas for grazing their livestock. Grazing kept the areas open with only a few trees or large shrubs. This provided good conditions for the herbs and plants that thrive best in nutrient-poor and sunny areas.

Practical Information

Please be aware that there are cattle in the fenced area.

The red dots on the map indicate the location of the gates.

The trail consists partly of footpaths and is therefore affected by the season and plant growth.

Due to the terrain, sturdy and waterproof footwear is recommended. Hiking is at your own risk.

The hiking trail crosses both private and public land.

Remember:

  • Keep your distance from the animals and slow down when passing them
  • Do not feed the cattle
  • Keep an eye on the calves and never walk between a cow and her calf
  • Keep dogs on a short leash
  • Take your trash home with you

Thank you for being considerate and mindful of animals and nature.
